What is PresentMagazine.com about?

PresentMagazine.com covers local food, music, arts, and culture in Kansas City. Lifestyle and community too. We share stories about the local creative and business community that makes Kansas City a vibrant place to live, work, and play.

We believe in the necessity of supporting independent business owners, local institutions, and creative individuals because it is neighborly, benefits the local economy, and preserves a sense of place in this community we call home.

The online magazine was founded and launched in September 2005. The first 15 issues were produced and published monthly in PDF form (September 2005—December 2006). Beginning in February 2007, the magazine converted to our current web site. All material in the first 15 issues will gradually be published again on the updated site.

Why is PresentMagazine.com
only online?

PresentMagazine.com is an online magazine for practical purposes. The magazine is available free, online, everywhere. Well, everywhere that has Internet access. We love print magazines too. Love them. Guess what? Production, printing, and postage is costly. The magazine is free to you, dear reader. So, we keep our costs (and advertising rates!) in check by publishing online. We'd rather spend our time publishing stories and images than selling over-priced advertising to local businesses. Go figure. Plus, we prefer not using paper for the benefit of the environment and our community.

Who publishes and produces PresentMagazine.com
?

Pete Dulin founded and launched the magazine. He has worked as a sous chef in Kansas City and Boston. He enjoys writing about food, the original inspiration for the magazine. He enjoys eating Bit O’ Honey. He is the Editor and Co-Publisher.

Pam Taylor was so excited about PresentMagazine.com that she joined the magazine as partner in June 2006. She has had many jobs, but none so interesting and fulfilling as those created by Present and her kids. In addition to being Co-Publisher and an occasional photographer for PresentMagazine.com, she is the VP of The Lazarus Group and homeschools her son and twin daughters.
