Helping patients of all ages to both see better and keep them seeing better has been the goal of Dr. Gerard Lozada throughout his career; a career that began with travel to remote areas to provide vision care. After years of volunteer work, Dr. Lozada realized that the same problems he found in these remote areas, access to and quality of care, are just as easily found in a city. Since 2000, Rosedale Vision Center has been his office location where he serves not just the local community, but patients from the surrounding area too.
Being bilingual in Spanish is another reason that patients are willing to travel to his office. Despite these patients also being bilingual, many feel more comfortable communicating in their native language.
Dr. Lozada also has a keen interest in the vision needs of children. This interest lead to his appointment in 2006 to The Governor's Child Health Advisory Committee for the state of Kansas. Since then, the committee has advised on childhood obesity, immunizations, newborn blood screening, with the current focus area being the reduction of infant mortality in the state.

PresentMagazine.com - Presenting the best of Kansas City
About the Magazine
PresentMagazine.com launched in September 2005 as an online monthly magazine that covers local food, music, arts and community throughout the Kansas City area. Through multimedia storytelling, we focus on supporting the local creative and small business community that make Kansas City a diverse and exciting place to live. The editorial voice is warm, accessible, and community-oriented. No snark, no smut.
About Contributing Writers
Contributors should write with a strong voice that is informative and demonstrates a distinct viewpoint. Our editorial coverage raises awareness, then encourages readers to support the creative and small business community by attending events and seeking out more information. While contributions can be critical, they should be written with accessible language and a tone that avoids elitism. Thought-provoking without highbrow snobbery. Striking without sensationalism.
Published contributors will receive credit in the magazine on the contributor's page and digital distribution of the story. Written contributions are not paid at this time. Contributors also have the option of placing a free image or text advertisement with link to a website of their choice (at the publisher's discretion). Publisher can provide more details about the advertising option.
PresentMagazine.com seeks regular contributions in all sections of the magazine––food and drink, music, arts, health, design, community-based articles on local people, businesses, and nonprofits. We also publish reviews of films, books, recorded music, and live music and arts performances. Writers should send a story query to Pete Dulin at present@presentmagazine.com with a concise description of the story idea and the angle of the story.
Voices is a new section open to people in the community with a specific perspective on any topic. Contributions can be in the form of essays, memoir, poetry, visual artwork, photography, video, or audio podcast. Please consult Pete Dulin or Pam Taylor for more information, present@presentmagazine.com.
