Fans of the Expassionates might remember Scott Easterday's former band in the Nineties dubbed easterday. In 1993, lead vocalist/guitarist Easterday invited vocalist/guitarist Elaine McMilian to try out for his new band. Her addition finalized the lineup with Jon Niccum on bass and Mark Acuff on drums. They performed locally and regionally from 1993-1995 and disbanded to pursue other projects, but built a solid repertoire of songs. Today, McMilian, a solo artist hosting a popular singer/songwriter showcase at Czar Bar, and Easterday still sing together from time to time with plans to record material in the future.

The band decided in 2004 to release easterday 1993-1995 containing previously unreleased songs. "Autumn" features the golden vocals of Easterday and Elaine McMilian that invest the song with warmth and a certain wistfulness. The vocal interplay is accentuated by quiet guitar work that slowly builds until the band joins in fully midway through the song.

"I wrote this song because I love autumn; fall is my favorite season," says Scott Easterday. "I wanted to personify the season as a beautiful woman whom I favor over her brash sister Summer and her indifferent sister Winter."
