The band’s thematic exploration on this recording deals with the broken shell of a relationship and its messy contents. Don’t let that summation bring you down. They deliver the tight musicianship, youthful harmony, and multi-layered pop arrangements full of energy and angst that made their debut Fourth of July on the Plains such a treat.

Music Review: Mikal Shapiro - For Good

Haunting, intimate songs showcase Shapiro's talent.

She sings with an expressiveness that leaves no doubt about her identity. Mikal Shapiro's lyrical phrasing and vocal inflection creates tension, unleashes idiosyncratic rhythm, and charges the air with melody and emotion. Her solo release For Good is a fine display of her vocal talent, poetic lyrics, and songwriting.

Mikal Shapiro, CD Release Party with Tummons Sisters, EIO, and The Dead Voices. - 8 PM, August 27 at Crosstown Station, 1522 McGee.
